+ Why should I take music lessons?
Music lessons are proven to increase your IQ, memory, mathematical ability, reading, self confidence, hand-eye coordination, creativity and overall wellbeing.
+ Can I try just one lesson?
Yes! Before you officially sign up, I would be happy to have you check out the lesson space, chat about goals and needs, and have a mini lesson - for free! These typically take place on Saturday mornings but can be arranged throughout the week.
+ Will I get to perform?
Students will have the opportunity to perform at a Christmas House Concert as well as a mini concert on a local Starbucks patio. We are also starting a new YouTube Channel that will host videos of the student performing their piece with Dana Marie on keys! Parents or guardians will need to sign an agreement form for this. This gives something tangeable to work towards with each piece of music and is also something to look back on to see progress!
+ What does a private music lesson look like?
A 30 minute lesson includes 15 minutes of warm-ups, technique, ear training, and theory and then 15 minutes of applying that to a song that the student is working on. Songs can be anything from musical theatre, classical, current pop songs, or even songs the student is writing! We also work on performance aspects such as stage presence, mic control, how to communicate with a sound engineer, body language, connecting to the music and building confidence. Each lesson is recorded and sent to the student to practice throughout the week.
A 45 minute lesson includes 20 minutes of warm-ups, technique, ear training, and theory and 25 minutes of applying that to a song that the student is working on. + What does a group lesson look like?
Group lessons take place on Friday afterrnoons for vocalists only. You can expect warm-ups and technique training as a group, and then singing a song together. You will learn harmonies, performance prep, and have the opportunity to sing solo. Studnets will gain confidence as they sing infront of their peers, perform in duets, and as a group.
Lessons are $15 for 45 minutes and need to have a minimum of 3 students involved in order to take place. Available in 3-month terms.
4:00 - 4:45pm - Ages 8-12
5:00 - 5:45pm - Ages 13-17
+ What happens if I miss a lesson?
Unfortunately because of the amount of students that I teach, I cannot do make up lessons if you happen to miss. I just don't have the space in my schedule! The weather, traffic, etc. are out of my control. If there is a family emergency, please let me know and I will definitly try my best to arrange something.
+ What if I need to stop lessons half way through a term?
Once you've paid for the term, unfortunately lessons cannot be reimbursed. We can try to arrange for another day if there is space in my teaching schedule.
